Post-Election Fallout: Impact on Pension & Healthcare March 13, 2013 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM

While the election didn't ease the challenges of divided government or knock fiscal issues from atop the domestic policy agenda, policymakers are intensifying their focus on retirement security. And for good reason: polls show that Americans want their leaders to give higher priority to these issues. This growing interest in retirement policy will bring both opportunities and threats from the new Congress and the re-elected Obama administration.

With the status quo in the Administration and Congress, there is likely to be little change in the direction in the implementation of healthcare reform. However, the public still knows little of the details, and rumors and misinformation are rampant. State and Federal exchanges must be ready for consumers to compare coverage and cost by this fall. Attendees may learn the unbiased facts on coverage, exchanges, cost, penalties, and other important aspects of the Affordable Care Act.

With one expert from pension reform and another from healthcare reform, the speakers present some interesting viewpoints for actuaries to consider. Attendees may be better prepared for future opportunities and have a better understanding of implications of impending changes in retirement policy.
